As with any role-playing game, Genshin Impact has a few different facets to its leveling system. Players can level up their adventure rank, characters, and relationships; but they may want to focus on leveling up their weapons. Weapon upgrading, or leveling, is important because the level of a weapon dictates how powerful that weapon is. With each level increase, a weapon becomes stronger and can deal more damage.
Just like how there are many different leveling systems in Genshin Impact, there are also different types of experience. Each type of experience goes towards increasing the level of a certain facet, and each type of experience is earned through different actions. As such, character levels require character experience, weapons require weapon experience, and Adventure Ranks require Adventure Rank experience. Luckily, weapon leveling is one of the easiest facets to level up in Genshin Impact.
Genshin Impact offers players an arsenal of weaponry to choose from on their adventure. Each weapon the player comes across is level 1 and has its own base attack. The base damage output will vary depending on the weapon’s rarity. There are two methods of upgrading a weapon’s strength but both have different outcomes.
The first and easiest method of upgrading a weapon is to use other weapons and enchantment ores to increase the weapon’s level. Each weapon requires experience from other items in order to level up, and with each level, the weapon becomes stronger raising its base attack stat. Each weapon can be raised to level 20 before it requires rare materials to ascend. When a weapon is ascended its stats increases drastically, and the player can then upgrade the weapon another 20 levels. However, each item that is used will require the player to spend Mora as leveling weapons is not free.
The second method is by refining weapons. To refine a weapon, players will need to have another one of that exact same weapon. Refining a weapon combine both giving the new weapon an increased bonus effect. A weapon can be refined 5 times, and each refinement increases that weapons ability. Refining a weapon won’t increase its base stats, but it can make the weapon more effective in certain situations. Like increasing the level of a weapon, refining a weapon costs the player Mora.
